Lab: Toolbar Revisit

(Individual lab work / Due 12:00pm the next day)

1.0 General Setup

1. Install a network protocol analyzer called Wireshark (http://www.wireshark.org/download.html)
2. Uninstall or cleanup Yahoo Toolbar if you have one.
3. Use IE browser and/or a different browser you used in the last toolbar lab for this lab whenever possible.

2.0 Trace Capture

0	Cleanup browser cache and cookies. Here are the instructions. Clean the cache too just to be clean.	Make sure all the cookies and browser cache are clean.
1	Start the network protocol analyzer	Make sure everything works and you can capture HTTP traffic.
2		Only use this link.
3	Click on the "Download Now" button.	Make sure the network protocol analyzer is working
4	Click on "I Agree" and finish the install process	Make sure the network protocol analyzer is working
5	After the toolbar is installed. Search something using the toolbar.	Make sure the network protocol analyzer is working
6	Finish	Make sure you have the trace. Stop the analyzer and perform analysis

3.0 Analysis

By referring to the network trace, perform an analysis on all the web cookies used by Yahoo during the download and install process. Discuss the following:

• Make sure you clean up the cookies / cache.
• What cookies are created?
• How are the cookies being used in terms of web protocol design?

Note: Using MS-Word format, email the answer in text with reference to network trace.
